Utrecht - Netherlands
Utrecht University (UU) is a major public research university located in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands, founded on March 26, 1636, making it one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country with a strong global reputation for high-quality education and innovative research. The university enrolls over 39,000 students from more than 120 countries and offers a broad range of interdisciplinary programs that integrate research and teaching across the sciences, social sciences, medicine, law, economics and the humanities. UU’s academic structure consists of seven faculties — Geosciences, Humanities, Law, Economics & Governance, Medical Sciences, Science, Social & Behavioural Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine — providing bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees across a wide academic spectrum and fostering international collaboration and student mobility. Its campuses span historic buildings in Utrecht’s city centre as well as the large Utrecht Science Park (De Uithof), which hosts key research facilities, libraries, student housing and laboratory infrastructure. The university’s research strategic themes encompass life sciences, sustainability, youth dynamics, and open societies, and it maintains active participation in European networks such as the League of European Research Universities (LERU) and Coimbra Group to strengthen its global impact and scholarly connections.
